Welcome to ADVG 4020 – Legal Liability & Risk Management of Adventure!
ADVG 4020 basically deals with the intersection of law with adventure and risk, how to prevent bad things from happening to good people, and the legal consequences of when brown stuff hits the fan.
It focuses on guide liability, occupier’s liability and negligence, waivers, risk tolerance, risk analysis models and risk management systems. The course makes extensive use of case studies.
I intend on teaching the course both in-person in real time and asynchronously (anytime). It will be an approximate 85/15 split.
In-person classes will be a combination of lectures, PowerPoint presentations and discussions. Asynchronous stuff will include discussions, chats, and exercises. There may be the occasional online synchronous class due to being away presenting at conferences. Zoom links will be supplied ahead of class
