In this course you choose a focus for the manuscript that is related to clinical practice or an issue of relevance in health care.  In conjunction with their faculty supervisor students will produce a plan leading to a fully developed manuscript.

A focused area for manuscript development provides students with an opportunity to advance their knowledge and develop academic skills necessary to formally synthesize knowledge. The focused area must be approved by the faculty supervisor.

The emphasis is on selecting a clinical topic of particular interest to the student that is worthy of publication.  Students work with their faculty supervisor in the courses to tailor their studies to a specific area of nurse practitioner practice.

Students are expected to clearly identify the topic relevant to their professional-academic goals for their manuscript project. Evaluation criteria are reviewed and negotiated with the faculty supervisor.

In this DS I project the overarching goal is the preparation of a first draft of a manuscript. In DS II is overarching goals is the preparation of a 'submission ready’ manuscript. The manuscript will reflect the culmination of work completed in DS I together with iterations/revisions to the manuscript during DS II by the student and faculty supervisor.
