Upon successful completion of the course students will demonstrate the ability to:
- Perform close critical readings, demonstrating fluent comprehension of scholarly texts on a variety of subjects.
- Identify, analyze, and articulate key features of academic texts, stylistic strategies, and characteristics of academic sources.
- Investigate a topic, using various research methods to assess, organize and synthesize scholarly sources.
- Participate in professional discourse, applying the theories and practices of academic writing.
- Compose analytical essays, using academic sources, scholarly argument, and academic citations.
- Critically engage in the processes of giving and receiving informed feedback on academic writing.
- Write with proficiency at a university-level, grammatical style.
